Junior Network Associate

Job Description

The Junior Network Associate works on team in supporting a state-of-the-art fast-paced and extremely demanding network.  He/she provides technical support in Tier II level network operational support and assists senior team members with technical assessments and critical troubleshooting.  He/She works in all areas of Networking - routing, switching, VPN, firewalls, OSPF/BGP, LAN/WAN.

 Required Education and Experience: 

CCNA/CCDA, Associate’s Degree or equivalent work experience and a minimum of 5 years experience in an enterprise networking environment required

 Required Core Competencies from Skill Analyzer:

·         Ability to demonstrate fundamental technical understanding of communications networks, such as protocols, network components, design elements and architecture

·         Experienced with the installation and configuration of hardware components and peripheral devices

·         Must be knowledgeable regarding platform operating systems (router platforms, LAN, WAN, and router protocols) and how they interact with the network

·         Must have skills in assisting with the implementation of MPLS / LAN based configuration of internal LAN based VRF and mapping them to the VLAN for tagging

·         Must have basic skills in Layer 3 and 2 routing and switch and experience with Cisco 7600 and 6500 platforms

·         Hands-on experience with all Cisco routers and catalyst switches – Examples include but not limited to 1800, 2800, 3745, 3750, 3800, 3550, 4500, 6500, 7200vxr, 7300, and 7600

·         Must be able to troubleshoot technical LAN/WAN related problems

·         Demonstrate knowledge of Incident, Change, Problem Management processes

·         Must enjoy working in a collaborative engineering team; sharing ideas, documentation, and responsibilities

·         Must be able to work night shifts before 6 a.m. and after 6 p.m.

·         May be able to work remotely

 Desired:

·         Must be familiar with enterprise support tools such as CiscoWorks, Cisco WLS, NetScout Sniffer, or HP OpenView

·         Working knowledge of ITIL framework, Change management, incident management, service management, and service delivery, SLAs

·         Project Management and understanding of deliverables and meeting project deadlines and milestones

·         Experience in providing IT service to a customer with focus and understand the importance of operational support
